IT’S COMING: EVERYTHING YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED

What was your first reaction to that title?

Yeah, right! Baloney. “Really, where is it, then?”

Or was there a glimmer of hope that it might be true?

Well it IS true.

There is a benevolent force in the universe that loves you, wants you to be happy, and created you to be a co-creator with it.

You are one with this force of love and joy and wisdom. At your core, you are connected. You were formed from this spirit. Share the same DNA, so to speak.

Humans, in our propensity to be negative (we do this to keep ourselves from getting hurt; it’s a survival tool.) have been taught by other humans trying to protect us, that you shouldn’t expect too much from this world and you should be happy with what you have. Don’t be greedy. Don’t think too highly of yourself, or life will knock you back down.

I totally get it. I’ve battled with this just as you have.

But what if that wasn’t exactly true? What if you really could have it all? What if God does want to give you the desires of your heart? Wouldn’t that be cool?

Yes, It would.

So let’s try an experiment. Let’s consider for a moment that it is true. The only thing keeping all that you want from showing up in your life, is your expectation that it wont.

It’s likely that you’ve already heard that what you think about increases in your life. What you focus on is drawn to you. You have the power to draw toward you exactly what you long for.

But if you keep focusing on what you don’t have. That’s exactly what you are drawing more of to you.

Just like a ship’s rudder is tiny in comparison to the ship but can steer in to a different route, so your thoughts and words, tiny as they might seem, can change the course of your life.

Here’s a starting place for you.

Action step: Try this for a week. Stop talking about what you don’t want. Stop complaining about what you wish was different. Stop blaming others or circumstances for why you are miserable or lonely or broke. Simply do this: Focus on what you DO have, even the tiniest things, or the things you take for granted. A roof over your head. Hot water. Warm blankets. Heat. Air conditioning. Food to eat. Even some of your favorites. Your pets. You strength. Your mind. Your sense of humor. The lady next door that bring you her zucchini from her garden. Your sight. Your hearing. Your health. Toilet paper. Cool breezes. Fresh air. You get the picture. And be grateful. Think thoughts that make you feel happy. And every time you are tempted to complain, stop. And do this little exercise. Do this for a week and see what changes.
