Join the Movement: Bring Clean Water and Hope to Sierra Leone

Want to be a Hero? Help me provide clean water to kids and their families in Sierra Leone. Clean water brings freedom from disease and danger, and enables girls to go to school.

My work with Sierra Leone has been long term. First, I worked with amputees and child soldiers who were victims of the civil war (1991-2002) in trauma recovery.

I have sponsored children in Sierra Leone over the years.

Then I trekked to Mt. Everest base camp to raise awareness and money for clean water in 2019, raising about $12,500.

Now that I plan to go back in the fall, I look forward to visiting the schools and hear how kids are feeling more empowered. When girls don’t have to walk miles every day to fetch water for the family, they are free to attend school, which enables them to have a bright future.

One of the children I sponsor told me that it’s dangerous when she has to go into the “bush” to fetch water. There are threats of attacks when the girls are alone.

Drinking contaminated water causes diseases like diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid and polio. World Hope International digs wells, builds latrines and educates the population about the health benefits of handwashing, etc.

World Hope is one of my favorite non-profits because they are so trustworthy to make sure your money goes where it is intended.
